Managing your project
Pause or resume a project to control whether it accepts messages, and permanently delete a project you no longer need.
Two project-level controls live in the Danger zone at the bottom of a project's Settings page: pausing (and resuming) a project, and deleting it. Both change your live deployments, so they're grouped together and kept out of the way of everyday settings.
Pausing and resuming a project
Pausing a project takes its agent offline without losing anything. While a project is paused:
- Your chat surfaces stop responding to visitors across every channel.
- All of your knowledge, persona, settings, and conversations stay exactly as they were.
You might pause a project while you're reworking its content, during a quiet period, or when a client engagement is on hold.
To pause: open Settings, scroll to the Danger zone, and choose Pause. You'll be asked to confirm.
Resuming is the reverse and is just as safe. Choose Resume in the same place, and your chat goes live again immediately — visitors can chat right away.
Pausing is fully reversible. You can pause and resume as often as you like, and nothing is deleted in the process.
Deleting a project
Deleting a project removes it and everything inside it for good.
Deleting a project is permanent and cannot be undone. It removes the project along with its knowledge sources and indexed content, every conversation, and takes its chat offline across all channels. If you only want to stop the agent temporarily, pause the project instead.
To delete a project:
- Open the project's Settings page and scroll to the Danger zone.
- Choose Delete.
- In the confirmation dialog, type the project's name exactly to confirm. The delete button stays disabled until the name matches, so a deletion can't happen by accident.
- Confirm to delete. Once it's done, the project and all of its data are gone.
Deleting a project also frees up a project slot against your plan's limit, so you can create another in its place if you're at your cap.
